Winter travel eSIM: FAQ
When should I install my eSIM for a winter trip?
Install it at home on Wi-Fi a few days before you leave, so you can sort out any problem calmly. Keep the eSIM line switched off until you land, then turn it on together with data roaming for that line. On most plans the validity period starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination; check the details on the plan page.
Will I have signal at the ski resort?
The eSIM uses the same local networks as a local SIM card. Coverage in resort villages and on the main slopes is usually good, but it can be weak or missing in high valleys, on remote lifts or off-piste. Download offline maps before you go up, and keep your phone warm and charged, because cold drains batteries quickly.
I am visiting several countries. Do I need a separate plan for each one?
Not always. If your trip crosses borders, for example a ski tour through Austria, Switzerland and Italy, a regional plan can be simpler than several country plans. Before you buy, check that every country on your route is in the plan's coverage list.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Most recent iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel models support eSIM, but the phone also has to be carrier-unlocked. Look for an "Add eSIM" option in your settings, or check your model with our compatibility checker before you buy.
