The cost of 1 GB abroad depends on the country, package and how much of that package you actually use.Compare the full price and usable data for the same itinerary and duration. There is no single worldwide per-GB price for roaming, local SIMs or travel eSIMs.
Calculate both advertised and effective cost
Hypothetical example: a package costing €20 with 10 GB has an advertised cost of €2 per GB. If you use only 4 GB before it expires, the money you spent per GB actually used is €5. These figures illustrate the calculation; they are not a current Cellesim offer.
Use the final amount payable, including any displayed tax or extra charge. Compare prices in the same currency and note when you checked them. A discount that has expired should not be treated as the current purchase price.
Compare three ways to obtain travel data

Estimate the data you need
Review your phone's recent usage and distinguish light messaging and navigation from video, large downloads and hotspot use. Settings and habits matter more than a generic travel label. Download offline maps and large updates before departure if practical.
For another hypothetical example, a planned allowance of 0.5 GB per day for eight days totals 4 GB. Add a separate margin if you expect additional use, rather than silently doubling the result. For multiple devices, calculate each device's expected use and check whether the chosen package permits sharing.
Read the conditions that change the comparison
- Does the validity period cover the full trip?
- Does the allowance apply in every destination?
- Is there a speed reduction, fair-use or hotspot condition?
- Is the product data-only, or are a number, calls or SMS included?
- Can the package be extended or topped up, and on what terms?
Do not assume the answers are the same across all products sold by a provider. Installation is also separate from the package's validity trigger; confirm when its paid service begins.
Avoid paying twice for the wrong problem
If a previously working plan stops, check its validity and remaining data before buying another. If payment for a new package succeeded but delivery is missing, contact support with the order number. Deleting an installed eSIM will not resolve an undelivered order and its QR may not be reusable.

Is the lowest price per GB always best?
No. Unused data, an unsuitable validity period or missing destination coverage can make the lower headline figure less useful.
Does keeping my home number add a charge?
It depends on your home carrier and the services used. Check calls, SMS and mobile-data conditions separately.
